Verguni is a traditional Ukrainian cookie made from unleavened yeast-free dough, fried in vegetable oil. Depending on the regions, the dough and shape of cookies may differ. So, for example, traditionally the dough was cut into lozenges, an incision was made inside and wrapped inside the incision. But verguns could also be made in the form of rolls or roses. In the Kiev version of vergunov, in addition to the standard components, rum and almonds were added, in Konotop — lemon zest, and so on.
