BuzzFeed Bites Beryl Shereshewsky and Sics Lawyers On Her to Warn That Concept Theft Isn’t Technically Illegal

BuzzFeed Bites Beryl As some of you who read this site regularly already know, Beryl Shereshewsky’s brand of viewer inspired cooking content is unique and uniquely lovable. Though she isn’t the most popular cook on YouTube, she has quite a reasonably substantial and loyal following because nobody really does it the way she does.

She and her family are actively involved with making the world a better place. She’s inclusive without being preachy, and just lives the life of someone who cares. She’s also very ethical in her content creation and shares credit, gives linkage, and says when and where she got an idea.

Would be nice if others respected her in kind, right?

Right?

Not BuzzFeed. They recently made an announcement on their community page that they’re basically stealing her idea, and didn’t even have the courtesy to say where they got it from. Sure, many of us do user feedback and interactive content, but the way they just basically grafted her style into their frame without so much as a mention was just shady af.

Then, when they caught some smoke for their behavior from Beryl’s fans, they had their lawyers write to her to warn her that this concept theft isn’t technically illegal. So they know where they got the idea, and decided to do damage control, but still not give her any credit.

You can comment and show your support for Beryl by clicking here. I don’t know if they’re going to keep the page up or for how long with all this scandal. Apparently, this isn’t the first time they’ve swiped someone’s concept without giving due credit, but we hope it will be the last.
