Frequently Asked Questions

What is a party pool?

A party pool is an old style of making a good time that is recently renewed due to anti smoking legislation.  It's basically a group of friends and families who share hosting duties for whichever nights of the week people usually party.  Some have small friends and guests affairs, and some open their doors somewhat to the public, and/or by reservation.

How do I sew salwar kameez?

Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do I sew salwar kameez?

Salwar kameez just means a tailored pants and shirt suit.  Salwar are a south Asian/middle eastern style of pants made in a way that they offer a full range of motion.  Usually this means that they will have a gusset or at least extra room around the crotch and inseam.  They are the style of choice in many cultures wherein people usually sit on the floor or cushions rather than chairs.

Kameez is a fitted long shirt.  It resembles a bodiced dress with side splits below the waist.  Kurti are also worn with salwar, but they are panel shirts, rather than bodiced.

Where can I find bindi with different symbols?

Frequently Asked QuestionsI'm not Hindu, but I like the way bindis look.  Where can I find bindis that have symbols from other cultures?

Hinduism isn't just one "religion". Hindu beliefs can range from nearly atheistic, to agnostic, to monotheistic, to polyentheistic. They are very varied, and for the most part, very inclusive. So many companies in India manufacture bindis and body stickers that represent many cultures and faiths. The problem is, of course, finding a retailer who will sell them to you.
